Maria Karimbakas is a registered dietitian and certified nutrition support clinician, who received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Vermont and completed her dietetic internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. She has dedicated her 28-year career to providing clinical care and individualized diet education to patients living with short bowel syndrome. She worked at the Nutritional Restart Center, the first intestinal rehabilitation program pioneered by her mentors Dr. Theresa Byrne and Dr. Douglas Wilmore. She created the first-in-industry home intestinal rehabilitation program and she has co-authored several abstracts, papers, and book chapters on the subject of diet and SBS and regularly speaks on the nutrition management of SBS. She's passionate about providing comprehensive, best-in-class care to patients with this rare and complex condition and is available for private pay consultation.
