Dr. Yana Cavanagh is the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Director of Interventional Endoscopy at St. Joseph’s Health. She is the Program Director of the Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at both Hackensack University School of Medicine and Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Yana Cavanagh is triple board certified in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. Dr. Cavanagh’s clinical expertise includes the management of gastrointestinal cancers and conditions requiring complex endoscopic interdisciplinary management. She has performed thousands of advanced procedures and distinguished herself amongst a small group of innovators, who provide high quality care by performing endoscopic surgical procedures. Dr. Cavanagh has particular interest in minimally invasive procedures of the gastrointestinal tract, including “third-space” endoscopy such as endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), per oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM), anti-reflux procedures, full thickness resection (FTR) and endoscopic weight loss management. Her dedication to patient care and extensive experience in treating benign and malignant conditions of the gastrointestinal tract have made Dr. Yana Cavanagh a trusted physician amongst her colleagues and the community which she serves. Dr Cavanagh is active in clinic trials of novel endoscopic procedures and devices as well as research on pancreatic cancer genomics. Dr. Cavanagh has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented her research at national scientific meetings. She gives frequent educational seminars throughout the GI community about the latest innovations in endoscopy and has been appointed to the Quality Assurance in Endoscopy Committee by the governance board of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr Cavanagh also maintains active membership in the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Gastroenterology Association.
